What to wear?
- Solids are preferred to prints, plaids or stripes. In general, avoid t-shirts
or sweatshirts with logos, images, or printed material unless you wanted
your team or school logo to figure prominently in the pose. Team uniforms
can make a nice portrait.
- Darker colors tend to slim. Large areas of very bright color can be distracting.
- For formal pictures, avoid sleeveless or short sleeve tops. These draw
the attention away from the face.
- Very short skirts or shorts (shorter than mid thigh) can appear unflattering
and be distracting.
- Reflections in glasses are often very difficult to control. Strong prescriptions
cause distortion of the facial lines and many lenses tend to darken under
the lights. The perfect solution is to bring an extra pair without the glass.
Short of this, retouching may be required at an additional charge.
- Choose clothing that fits well whether sitting or standing. Bring clothing
pre-pressed without fold marks or wrinkles. New clothing often has a stiff
look or fold marks that can only be removed by pre-washing or dry cleaning.
What about my hair?
If you choose to have your hair cut
in preparation for your session, we recommend that you do so at least one
week, if not more, before your session. Now is not the time to experiment
with a new style or color.
Tan lines and sunburns
These cannot be corrected. Make sure
your clothing covers up any tan lines you have gotten during the summer.
